UMMG INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE PATIENT
SERVICE IN FACULTY PRACTICE CLINICS
Customer service moves to the forefront this fall with training workshops in
Skills for Service Delivery for School of Medicine employees. With an eye on
improving service in the School of Medicine’s clinical practice, the University
of Miami Medical Group (UMMG) has appointed select faculty members and administrators
to serve as the Ambassador Training Corps, teaching the skills necessary for
delivering good service. Employees will receive invitations to these mandatory
training sessions in the coming weeks. The goal is to include faculty and staff
from several different departments in each class session. Service training is
just one of seven components in the UMMG Service Initiative, as identified by
a consulting team after site visits, interviews, focus groups, and other assessments.
The other components are leadership commitment, communication and change, management
plan, integration with human resources, revenue cycle processes, service standards,
and service recovery. If you have any questions, contact Helen Scarr at 305-243-7240
or Wanda Mella at 305-243-2368.
