VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS
As we approach the end of the semester, there is no doubt that the coronavirus pandemic has changed all of us. This has been a particularly hard time to balance our regular responsibilities as well as the new concerns that have arisen only because of the pandemic. As a parent myself, I want my child to thrive. However, instead of the celebrations I had planned as she finishes her senior year in high school, we had to make do with virtual gatherings of friends and family. I am sure that many of you have experienced similar difficulties.
Especially during these challenging times, the health and safety of our students is my top concern. As noted by the Miami Herald, President Frenk is a leader in public health and has specially positioned us to make the most health- and safety-focused decisions while also considering our mission. As a University, we pulled together as a team to safeguard our students, faculty, and staff. The collection of University news stories included in this special edition of our monthly family newsletter details the many ways our community has responded to this public health crisis.
As we all continue to adjust to whatever our new normal looks like, I would like to remind you that we are all in this together. As President Frenk said in a video message to the University community, we are continuing to plan for an on-time and in-person opening in the Fall if it is deemed safe to do so.
In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at vpsa@miami.edu if you need assistance.
