ECO Agency reusable bags

With a plastic bag ban in effect in the City Beautiful, ECO agency decided to let everybody know that the best way to shop is by bringing your own reusable bag. This one can fit easily in a purse, grab one at the next ECO Agency tabling event. With Orientation Week, a green tradition was back: each freshman received our ECO-Green U reusable bottle to remember to "Take back the Tap".  Visit ECO Agency for more information

Small groups of students passionate about the environment and willing to volunteer to help with event logistics, to take on innovative projects and make their school, department, lab or office more sustainable.

UM Garden Club

For local food lovers and gardeners at UM: Help get the word out about the UM CommUnity Garden Club new Food Garden project at the Arboretum in the Spring 2018.
To learn how you can get involved and help growing more local delicious produces, contact Annie Capetta and Terri Hood.  You can also have a look at Dr. Weiskoff's class temporary educational urban garden, right next to the future UM Food Garden.

Green Office

Earn 50 points in the Well ’Canes Incentive Program. To qualify, office teams need to sign up for the Green Office Certification Program and trade their desk trashcans for communal trash bins. This small change has increased recycling rates all over the country already.
Congrats to our Arts And Science Communication Dpt for achieving Bronze.

If you want to go “green” in the workplace, apply to the Green Office certification program and get a basic training in Sustainability: Recycling, Energy conservation, Water conservation, Green purchasing and printing, Nature conservation, Green outreach and leadership.

Laundry and Linens Green Initiatives

Most of the linen used at U Health is processed through the Goodwill Laundry and Linens facility located in Medley FL.

Overview

Goodwill Laundry and Linens is the newest state of the art commercial healthcare laundry in South Florida. By nature the processing, laundering and re using textiles as opposed to disposable linen is the major component in being green for the customer and the provider.   Learn more

New This Fall!

A new shuttle route connecting Gables One Tower (GOT) to the Coral Gables campus is now available.  The shuttle operates every Wednesday on Well ‘Canes Market day and Fridays between the hours of 11:00AM – 2:00PM. For more information on shuttle schedule click here.

Transit Riders receive discounts!

As a participating member of the university’s public transit program, you receive discounts and other perks when you present your Easy Card at participating locations. Miami-Dade County offers discounts that include events and attractions, dining, fitness, museums, and shopping. For additional information visit the Miami-Dade County website.
